What is web hosting

A web hosting service provides individuals and companies with the means to store images, video or any other content and make it accessible to users over the internet. Web hosting services can be offered in various forms:

• Shared web hosting: Shared web hosting: where a website is placed on the same server as other sites, sharing a common pool of server resources like CPU, RAM and hard disk space. Users have limited access to the server (usually through a control panel) and manage files/content through protocols like FTP.

The user is disallowed full control to allow the service provider to guarantee quality of service. *Co-located web hosting service: is the most powerful and configurable option available, where the provider only supplies electrical, internet and storage facilities for the server, while the user is fully responsible for the hardware and software for his server.
